The Crime Statistics Agency has revealed there were 9227 recorded offences in Greater Shepparton for the year ending September 30, 2021.
Across the state, the recorded offences rate decreased 9.8 per cent to 7430.6 per 100,000 Victorians in the past 12 months, as did the total number of offences, down 10.0 per cent to 496,260.
This overall state decrease was driven by acquisitive crime types such as shoplifting, burglary, theft and robbery, and Breach of Chief Health Officer directions, according to CSA.
In contrast, crimes against the person offences increased in the past 12 months in Victoria, up 2.2 per cent to 84,756, with the main contributor being non-family-violence-related common assault and serious assault.
However, family violence-related offences have increased 4.3 per cent to 112,062 offences statewide. Half of all FV-related offences were E20 Breach of Order offences.

There were 257 family violence serious assaults and 155 non-FV serious assaults in great Shepparton during the past 12 months.
FV common assaults (180) outnumbered non-FV common assault (144) offences.
FV threatening behaviour offences outnumbered non-FV cases 57 to 47, as did harassment and private nuisance FV cases compared to non-FV cases, 34 to 12.
The only crime against a person that wasn’t outnumbered by its FV counterpart was stalking, with FV cases numbering 10 and non-FV cases numbering 14.
Two murders were committed in the LGA, 561 sex offences, three abductions, and 11 false imprisonments.
Property and deception offences in greater Shepparton
There were 508 burglary charges, 767 property damage offences and 41 instances of arson.
Theft accounted for 1938 cases, with 224 for stealing a vehicle, 608 for stealing from a vehicle, and 116 bicycle thefts among the offences.
Only two cases of blackmail offences were recorded during the past 12 months.
Drug offences in greater Shepparton
There were 14 drug trafficking offences, 18 for growing, and 13 for possessing drug manufacturing equipment.
There were 361 drug possession offences recorded, with 19 drug use offences.
There were 207 weapons offences, and four explosives offences.
Other notable offences
There were four instances of animal cruelty, and one instance of “environmental offences”.
In the area of public nuisance, three people offended in relation to hoaxes and two for begging.
Ten people perverted the course of justice, 263 resisted arrest and two people escaped custody.
The City of Greater Shepparton area includes Shepparton, Mooroopna, Murchison, Dookie and Tatura.
Three-quarters of the municipality’s population live in Shepparton and Mooroopna.
