The Eagles traveled to Kialla Park Reserve to take on Old Students in the Cricket Shepparton Whitelock Shield clash, winning the toss and posting a mammoth total of 4-269 after taking first use of the pitch.
Rex Wardle's run-a-ball 100 was the clear highlight of the innings, with James Woods (74 from 80 deliveries) providing plenty of support in a 171-run second-wicket partnership between the duo.
Some late slogging from Rob Trewin - who crunched two sixes among his six boundaries and score of 32 from 21 balls faced - helped Katandra seemingly put the game out of reach for the home side.
But the Students would not be brushed aside that easily.
Despite losing regular wickets throughout their innings, the Students came within just 13 runs of parity when they eventually ran out of deliveries.
Jason Wild (71 from 57) and Scott Chandler (44) led the way up the top of the order, but the outfit was left wondering what might have been after James Hainsworth came in at number 10 in the order and hit two maximums from the only two deliveries he faced.
Billy Holmes (2-30) and Trewin (2-58 and a run-out) impressed in the field for the Eagles.
● Shepparton United was too good in its clash against Dhurringile.
Tyler Green (62 not out from 53 deliveries) and Ryan Dean (67) helped United to 4-194 before Justin Flynn (5-21) ripped through the chasing outfit to leave it all-out for 154.
● Pine Lodge dominated its contest against Mooroopna, keeping the Cats to just 95 runs and mowing down the required total with nine wickets in hand.
Shane Macansh provided plenty of resistance for Mooroopna with 37 not out, but Lodgers Berwinder Singh, Jack Vaivers and Travis Spark all managed to take two wickets with ball in hand.
Adam (46 not out) and Damien Pigatto (40 not out) were too strong with the bat in the chase.
● Murchison left it late, but was able to reel in Tatura's low total at Howley Oval.
The home side made 111 with Zac Trevaskis top-scoring on 32, while the Grasshoppers passed the score in the 35th over with six wickets in hand.
Albert Coonerty (48) and Ben Poulton (21 not out) steered the ship with the bat for the visitors, just as Bailey Collins (3-12), Greg Fraser (2-2 from eight overs with six maidens), Josh Roberts (2-15 from eight) and Jeremy Roberts (2-29) had done with the ball.
