Telstra has advised that the site was switched off at 7am yesterday, and will remain off until at least 7pm on Tuesday, June 24.
The site will also be switched off between 7am and 7pm on both June 25 and June 26.
Telstra mobile customers should have received a text message advising of the work, and how to improve connectivity while works are under way.
Telstra said landline services, NBN internet services and mobile coverage from other network providers should not be impacted.
The upgrades at Telstra’s Conargo base station are expected to bring a better 4G experience and new 5G coverage to the community.
Capsule sealed and buried
A new Deniliquin time capsule countdown has started, with 25 years now ticking down on the clock.
The latest time capsule from the Rotary Club of Deniliquin went into the ground at Gorman park, next to Edward River Library, with the assistance of heavy machinery.
A small crowd came to witness the occasion, and to enjoy the Rotary sausage sizzle.
There was a round of applause when the time capsule went into its special concrete lined hole, and the lid placed on top to remain put until 2050.
A full wrap on the project will be included in Friday’s Pastoral Times.
Inaugural Legacy Day
Today marks the first ever National Police Legacy Day.
Now to be held annually on June 17 each year, the initiative aims to bring attention to the difficulties faced by police families left behind after a tragedy – the significant financial strain, emotional distress, and challenges related to family structure and daily life.
NSW Police Legacy, in collaboration with the other seven Australian Police Legacies, will launch the week by illuminating the Police Legacy logo on the Sydney Opera House.
To find out more about the day, and how you can show your support, go to www.policelegacynsw.org.au.
Hope Explored
The Deniliquin Baptist Church is offering the community a chance to seek hope, peace, and purpose in life through Hope Explored.
It’s a free, three-week course, and no prior Bible knowledge is required.
There’s no pressure to participate in prayer or singing, and you’re welcome to ask questions or simply listen.
The church said it’s ideal for those curious about how Jesus offers a better future, as well as Christians looking to strengthen their faith.
If you’re interested in learning more, pop along to the church at 33 Edwardes St, Deniliquin tomorrow night, Wednesday, June 18, from 7.30pm to 9pm.

Price increase coming
The cost of the Pastoral Times will be increasing from July 1.
The 50c increase will mean your local paper will be $2.50 per edition.
“Your support of our papers helps keep local journalism, local jobs and local businesses alive,” McPherson Media Group chairman Ross McPherson said.
Those impacted by the increase might consider taking up a digital subscription, which gives you access to mobile apps, websites and audio publications. This is available free to anyone already registered for paper deliveries with Deniliquin Newsagency.
If you have any questions about your subscription, call 1300 834 619 or email customerservice@mmg.com.au.
