Jess Petreski is set to support clubs, schools and community organisations across Moira, Benalla, Mansfield, Strathbogie, Mitchell, Murrindindi and Greater Shepparton shires to improve access and participation for people with disability in sport and active recreation.
“Sport should be something everyone can enjoy, no matter their ability,” Ms Petreski said.
“I'm really looking forward to working with local communities to help break down barriers and create spaces where people with disability feel supported and empowered to get involved.”
Based at Valley Sport's Shepparton office, Ms Petreski is employed by Leisure Networks, with her role being delivered in partnership with Sport4All as part of the All-Abilities Workforce and Sector Support Program, funded by Sport and Recreation Victoria.
Valley Sport executive officer Megan Carr welcomed the appointment.
“It’s fantastic to have Jess join our team,” Ms Carr said.
“Her knowledge, passion, and genuine commitment to inclusion will be a real asset across our region.
“We're excited to support clubs and communities in making lasting positive changes toward greater accessibility in sport.”
Trained in Sport4All Learning and Development Hub programs, Ms Petreski will deliver inclusive education and will support local groups to identify opportunities, access resources and develop inclusive practices.
Her role involves building relationships across disability, community sport and health sectors, while promoting free training and resources through the Sport4All Learning and Development Hub.
