Some changes have been made to the $1.3million safety upgrade to Main Street, Rutherglen after Transport Victoria received feedback from the community.
Work is expected to start in late June.
According to the latest advice, there will be no on-street parking impacts near the Murphy Street roundabout.
Other measures will be used to slow vehicles on the approach, including extending the 40km speed zone beyond the roundabout on the Murray Valley Highway and Chiltern-Rutherglen Road, and installing a speed cushion on the straight alignment approach to the roundabout from Chiltern-Rutherglen Road.
The installation of two kerb outstands near Bowling Green Lane will go ahead to alert motorists that they are entering a changed road environment with increased pedestrian activity.
To minimise the loss of on-street parking, the department has made design changes to the signs to be installed at this location reducing the need to remove additional car parking due to sightline considerations.
Two on-street car spots, one on each side of the road, will be removed to install the kerb outstands.
