The Daffodil Centre in Sydney wanted to take the opportunity to thank the town of Deniliquin for their outstanding fundraising efforts, raising over $10,000 at their Biggest Morning Tea this year!
There are some Deni links working at The Daffodil Centre, which is a world-leading cancer research centre in cancer control, policy, and practice.
It is a joint venture between the University of Sydney and Cancer Council NSW.
The message was originally intended for Deniliquin’s Cancer Council volunteers, but they wanted to make sure the thanks were expressed more widely to thank the community for their support.
Deniliquin’s Biggest Morning Tea event was held at My Shop on May 15.
Morning tea could be enjoyed on the sidewalk or taken away, and a raffle helped contribute to the total raised.
A day we can get behind
There’s a special day or week for most causes and areas of interest these days, but one coming up this week has caught the eye of Talkback correspondents.
June 6 is National Donut Day.
What better reason to treat yourself.
Deniliquin South School’s P&C is taking full advantage of the special day, and it's partnering with two local businesses to celebrate.
Sponsored by SunRice, the school will have donuts from Josh’s Bakehouse available for sale.
Iced and cinnamon donuts will be available, with cash only sales.
Waste warriors
Edward River Council is celebrating Deni Waste Week from June 9-13, to mark 12 months of the three bin system and to thank residents for all they’ve achieved.
Since July 2024, the system has allowed council to divert 104 garbage truck loads of recyclables and 208 garbage truck loads of garden and food waste out of landfill.
But there’s always room for improvement.
Join one of the Q&A sessions with Anna Kelly at Edward River Library to find out more and learn how we can do even better.
Sessions will be held at 10am on both Tuesday, June 10 and Wednesday, June 11, and at 2pm on Thursday, June 12.
