Tickets were bought and plans were made, and Nathalia local Brodie would be making his way to the Shepparton Wolfe Brothers concert.
But an accident at school would leave him unable to attend.
Brodie was introduced to the duo a few years ago by his nan and pop, and it was love at first listen.
“They’re really catchy and I love their music and videos,” Brodie said.
Brodie’s countdown to seeing the country duo had begun, but five days before the show, he broke his leg at an inter-school football day.
“That night, Brodie said ‘Mum, I can’t walk’,” Brodie’s mother, Amy Tinkler, said.

The troubles didn’t end there. Brodie and Mrs Tinkler went from Nathalia to Echuca to Bendigo before finally ending up in the paediatrics ward of the Melbourne Royal Children’s Hospital.
“He was just backwards and forwards from the physio and hospitals,” Mrs Tinkler said.
But his story isn’t all doom and gloom; Brodie was about to receive a gift straight from the top.
When children’s health charity Uncle Bobs Club caught wind of the story, members decided to reach out to the Wolfe Brothers for help.
