Mr Broad, a traffic controller on the Shepparton line upgrade and proud Mooroopna local, passed away in 2022. The new path has been named Broad Way.
The new path, built between the Mooroopna Station entrance and the existing path along Young St, is designed to improve access to the station.
His family, friends and colleagues will gather for morning tea at Mooroopna Station on Saturday, June 22 from 9.30am to unveil an engraved memorial plaque on a park bench next to the station.
The words ‘Broad Way’ have been sandblasted into the surface at both ends of the path.
Mr Broad’s widow, Jackie, warmly invites family, friends and old acquaintances of Perry to commemorate his legacy at the event on Saturday.
“The opening of the Broad Way path and the park bench with the memorial plaque is a great legacy to remember Perry by and we hope that Mooroopna residents will enjoy it,” she said.
“Perry would have loved this.”
Broad Way aims to boost safety and accessibility for Mooroopna Station passengers, with the new path equipped with lighting.
Once the Shepparton line upgrade is complete, Young St pedestrians and cyclists will use a new active pedestrian crossing, equipped with gates that automatically lock when trains approach.
