The knockout stage of the fours will be held on Wednesday, with Moama skips Sandra Connolly ad Marilyn Stephenson among the sectional winners.
Only fours was today played on day one of the event, at Moama and Echuca, with pairs due to start tomorrow.
Event co-ordinator Pat Schram said the bowlers had come from far and wide to contest the event, 224 bowlers turning out for day one after more than 100 attended Saturday evening’s launch at Echuca Bowls Club.
“Lyn Johnston and her Paynesville team probably travelled the farthest. They won their section, along with Teresa Furnell from Murray Downs and Barbara Bibby from City Memorial at Warnambool.
“Heather Olney from Lorne also won her three games,” Schram said.
A Kyabram four also qualifed for the sectional play, with Jill Barrett skipping the four.
Other qualifiers were Sandra Kent, Sarah McDade, Janis Parks, Susan Roffey and Ann Draffen.
The knockout component of the fours will see two teams enjoy an opening round bye as the remaining 12 start the knockout component of the event.
Today is the start of the sectional play for the pairs event, with three games and the first of the knockout rounds scheduled.
