Rainbow Tick, a national accreditation program launched in 2012 by Rainbow Health Victoria in collaboration with Quality Innovation Performance, focuses on promoting safe and inclusive practices for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Intersex individuals.
“This accreditation demonstrates our dedication to ensuring that all members of the LGBTI community receive welcoming and inclusive care in a safe and quality-focused environment,” the spokesperson said.
“It serves as a reassurance to LGBTIQ+ individuals that they will be respected and supported throughout their healthcare journey at Benalla Health.
“Access to healthcare is a fundamental right for everyone in the Australian community, yet not all service providers understand or respond adequately to the unique needs of the LGBTIQ+ community.
“Experiences of exclusion and discrimination can directly impact the health and wellbeing of LGBTI individuals, particularly their mental health.”
By achieving Rainbow Tick accreditation, Benalla Health sets a benchmark for LGBTI-inclusive practices nationwide.
It signals its commitment to providing responsive and affirming care to LGBTIQ+ consumers, fostering a culture of inclusivity and respect within the organisation.
“As we celebrate this achievement, we reaffirm our dedication to serving all members of our community with dignity, compassion, and respect,” the spokesperson said.
“Benalla Health remains steadfast in our commitment to promoting health equity and ensuring that everyone, regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, or expression, receives the care and support they deserve.”
It's official: Benalla Health is Rainbow Tick accredited.
