The course, scheduled for June 7 and 8, costs $449 and provides an entry point into the aquatics industry.
Successful participants can apply for Cadet Swim Instructor positions at Aquamoves, with applications open from May 30 to June 15, 2025.
Aquamoves centre manager Liliana Angeles highlighted the region’s pressing need for swim instructors.
“This initiative opens the door for people who might never have considered this career path,” she said.
“With just two days of training, followed by paid in-pool experience and ongoing support, we are creating a clear, supported pathway into a role that genuinely changes lives in our community.”
The program includes paid shadow hours, allowing new instructors to gain practical experience alongside seasoned professionals.
Program and education co-ordinator Michelle Quast emphasised the program’s accessibility.
“We know there are people in our community who would make incredible swim teachers, but they’ve never known where to start.”
Applicants must hold a current Working with Children Check and CPR accreditation when applying for the cadet role.
The position offers flexible working hours, making it suitable for parents, university students and those seeking variable schedules.
Interested individuals can register at shepp.city/swiminstructor before the course enrolment deadline at midnight on June 6.
