Lloyds Auctions has released the catalogues for a number of online auctions containing more than 4000 original glass negatives from the Rose Stereograph Co.
The company was formed in the 1880s and produced stunning images that were shown in town halls around the country.
With the advent of cinema, audiences diminished for stereograph shows and the company shifted to producing postcards which became an integral part of domestic tourism.
Among the images up for auction are very early photographs of Shepparton High School, the Shepparton preserving Company (SPC) and important buildings such as the post office, butter factory, Lyric Theatre and churches.
Among the treasures are early snapshots of Shepparton streets and Victoria Park Lake but the real gems of images of activity in the town.
A stunning image depicts the start of the grand parade of cattle at the Shepparton Agricultural Show, another shows hundreds of people and cars lining the perimeter to watch.
Several images capture a parade up Wyndham St in 1923 with a banner arching across the street that says "For Auld Lang Syne" and a brass band in full regalia leading the procession.
The auction also included images from Kyabram, Nagambie, Tungamah and Yarrawonga.
Lake Eildon features in a series of postcard images but there are also pictures of heavy machinery working on the lake bed.
The collection of glass negatives have been held by the Cutts family who was original partners in the Rose Stereograph Co.
They are all being auctioned individually through a series of online auctions at www.loydsonline.com.au
