The forum targets students and the general public to examine local statistics and what leads to people becoming unhoused.
GOTAFE community services students, La Trobe University students, local school leaders, members of parliament and City of Greater Shepparton councillors have been invited to attend, along with interested and invested community members.
“We have seen an increase in people seeking homelessness support, that is individuals, families and young people due to the increase in the cost of living and other social stressors,” Salvation Army Homelessness North Vic program manager Omeni Ndlovu said.
“Addressing homelessness is no longer just a government issue, but a whole-of-community approach.
“The time is now to seriously articulate solutions to this human rights issue.”
The ‘End Homelessness for Good – Contributing Factors of Homelessness’ forum starts at 11am on Thursday, August 7, at Shepparton’s La Trobe University.
Limited seating is available, so registration is preferred.
