In this year's first major fundraiser for the Country Women's Association Eastern Goulburn Valley Group, about 430 scones were baked and sold on the day.
The CWA pop-up store was such a hit, group publicity officer Gwenda Metzke said the store table needed to be packed away half-an-hour early as everything was sold out.
She said two hard-working women were tasked with baking the scones throughout the day.
Ms Metzke said about $1600 was raised as a result of the store.
The group will keep about $1000 and the rest will be sent down to CWA Victoria's head office.
Ms Metzke said the money helped the group continue supporting the community.
“Our two main projects are through Shepparton's Hospice and Riding for the Disabled,” she said.
“People were asking us if we'll be back next week. Unfortunately we won't be — but we could make a return later this year.
“Friday was a good welcome back and a successful start to 2021. It was so busy in the kitchen, I didn't get a chance to get out to the front table.”
The next fundraiser for the group will be its craft exhibition on Friday, April 16 and Saturday, April 17 at the Shepparton East Clubrooms, Central Park Reserve, Central Ave.
There will be craft demonstrations and craft for sale.
