It pays to shop around for petrol in Shepparton at the moment, with a 16 ¢/litre price variation between service stations in the town.
Motorists in Shepparton on Monday were paying between 113.9 and 129.9 ¢/litre for their unleaded petrol.
While the APCO service station in Numurkah Rd, Shepparton, had the cheapest petrol in Shepparton or Mooroopna on Monday, it is a new service station in Wunghnu that is punching well above its weight when it comes to competitive prices.
APCO is selling its unleaded petrol for 113.9 ¢/litre.
In the meantime, Powerfuel Wunghnu was selling its unleaded petrol for only one cent dearer, at 114.9 ¢/litre, considerably cheaper than most other places in Shepparton and Mooroopna.
The next two cheapest places for fuel in Shepparton were Liberty in Benalla Rd and the United service station on Goulburn Valley Hwy just out of Kialla, where unleaded petrol was costing motorists 119.9 ¢/litre on Monday.
The United service station in Melbourne Rd, Kialla, was retailing its unleaded petrol for 123.9 ¢/litre on Monday, while the Caltex service station in Wyndham St, Shepparton, near the Queen's Gardens was selling its unleaded for 124.9 ¢/litre.
On Monday, all other service stations in Shepparton, as well as those in Mooroopna, were selling unleaded fuel for 129.9 ¢/litre.
The Wunghnu service station is the first Powerfuel outlet in Victoria, and opened on Goulburn Valley Hwy in the small town in November last year.
Manager Trupesh Ruvareliya said the cheaper prices were not because the service station was still relatively new.
“We have the same fuel. We don’t have as much margin,” Mr Ruvareliya said.
