A fire at Landsborough near Beerwah in the Sunshine Coast has moved between emergency and watch and act for days.
An evacuation order was in place for three hours overnight on Saturday and residents were again told to leave on Sunday afternoon as the blaze broke containment lines.
About 80 fires are burning across Queensland, with dozens of homes destroyed and several lives lost.
Further south in NSW the RFS has also declared a total fire ban for the majority of the state for Monday, with hot, dry and windy conditions on the way, and temperatures expected to climb into the high 30s in several areas.
Brisbane and the neighbouring local government areas of Moreton Bay and Redlands are among the places without a fire ban, along with Townsville, Burdekin and Hinchinbrook in the north, and the shires of Quilpie, Murweh, Bulloo and Paroo in the southwest.
The Rural Fire Service said there is an extreme fire danger for seven regions of NSW for Monday, stretching from the south coast up to the border with Queensland.
The Bureau of Meteorology warned strong winds will push up the east coast from the southern states in the coming days, increasing the risks of fires getting out of control.
"Above-average springtime temperatures will continue for many parts of southern Australia over the next few days, with warmer temperatures and a dry wind causing fire danger ratings to climb," the BoM said.
