Tasmanian Liberal minister quits politics

"Minister Jacquie Petrusma is resigning from Tasmanian parliament. She has been an enormously dedicated member of my team," he told reporters.

"I will miss her. Jacquie has been a great friend to me right throughout her time.

"This is Jacquie's personal decision. She has reflected on her 12 years in parliament and has every right to come to that decision to spend more time with her family."

Ms Petrusma held the police, fire and emergency management, prevention of family violence and parks portfolios, and was elected to parliament in 2010.

The Liberals have been forced into several cabinet reshuffles this year after education minister Sarah Courtney quit politics in February and premier Peter Gutwein retired in April.
