A critically wounded 25-year-old man is among three people in hospital after they were shot while sitting in two parked cars in Greenacre in Sydney's southwest early on Sunday morning.
Police are yet to say whether the shooting was gang-related, but it has all the hallmarks of an organised crime hit job.
The city's southwest has been grappling with a gang-linked war involving families that has claimed at least 11 lives in recent years and flared up again in the past few months.
The NSW premier described Sunday's attack as "vicious and violent" but says police have sufficient resources to curb the escalating criminal underworld tensions.
"We're in constant communication with NSW Police about the resources that they do have to keep the public safe and if there's changes that they need, both in legislation or resourcing, of course we'll come to the party," Mr Minns said on Monday.
"The people of NSW are concerned about it (and) I want to assure them that we have a well resourced, disciplined and experienced police team that are conducting this inquiry."
The victims were in a Toyota sedan and Mazda hatchback - about 50m apart - when both cars were sprayed with bullets by at least one gunman.
A third car was found alight in Amy Street at nearby Regents Park about five minutes after the attack.
A 22-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman were hit and are in a stable condition in hospital.
Police from Auburn are investigating with assistance from the State Crime Command.
"We're trying to establish what both parties were doing at the location," Superintendent Simon Glasser said on Sunday.
