Police will allege in court the man sexually abused six male students – then aged between 12 and 14 – while they were in his care as a brother and teacher between 1973 and 1985.

Detectives from the State Crime Command's Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad arrested a 71-year-old man at Taree Police Station on the mid-north coast on Wednesday.
He was charged with seven counts of indecently assaulting boys, sexual assault without consent, having sexual intercourse with person aged under 16, assaulting and and committing an act of indecency on a boy under 16, procuring an indecent act with a male and indecent act with person under 16.
He was refused bail and will appear at Forster Local Court on Thursday.
