Tahbilk spills the bubbles on new summer cocktail, the ‘Sticky Spritz’

Wine not: Victoria’s oldest family-owned winery, Tahbilk, has released a new summer cocktail – the ‘Sticky Spritz’.

The best inventions happen by accident – penicillin, microwave ovens and Tahbilk Winery’s new summer cocktail.

Playing around with wines and flavours, Tahbilk’s cellar door manager Holly Cusworth concocted a drink of accidental genius.

“I am a lover of harvest Rieslings, Marsannes, Sauvignons, but I do find they get too sweet for me, despite being a sweet tooth myself, so I always add soda water to dilute,” she said.

“I was at home one night, didn’t have soda water, and tried to add a sparkling bottle of Chardonnay Pinot instead.”

And thus, the ‘Sticky Spritz’ was born.

A tantalising blend of Tahbilk’s Cane Cut Marsanne and NV Coueslant Chardonnay Pinot sparkling, the new drink on Tahbilk’s menu is infused with tropical, marmalade, melon, and red berry flavours.

According to the winery, it’s been one of the most loved items ordered from their cellar door this season.

“It’s my new ‘go-to’ drink, but really, it’s so special as we’ve never really served or sold a drink like this before, combining two wines from our classic portfolio,” Ms Cusworth said.

Despite its traditional roots dating back to 1860, Tahbilk’s innovative staff showcase the winery’s ability to keep up with the times.

“Over Christmas, I did the sparkling Shiraz, adopting a scoop of ice-cream to create a nice winter-cross-summer drink,” Ms Cusworth said.

“I’m always looking for new ways for people to enjoy wine.”

The ‘Sticky Spritz’ pack will be on sale at Tahbilk’s Cellar Door for visitors, at the Tahbilk Restaurant on the Estate, or the ingredients are available for purchase online and delivered to your door.
