Couple of bites in Murchison

Seymour angler Elisa Reynolds started the new year off right when she hooked a 130 cm cod while fishing in the Goulburn River near Murchison.

Elisa was enjoying a day on the water with husband Daryl and son Julian when she hauled in the 30 kg fish.

But she didn’t stop there.

Elisa reeled in another whopper not long after the first, this time a 90 cm cod weighing almost 20 kg.

The fish were released after some happy snaps were taken, with Elisa hoping the massive catch would be one of many for 2020.

“I was just using chicken for bait and was really surprised. I’ve never caught anything that big before,” Elisa said.

“It’s a great start to the year. It would be nice if this was a sign of things to come in 2020.”
