Two of the Goulburn Valley League’s premiership hopefuls will meet on Saturday afternoon, with Mansfield set to play host to Mooroopna.
The third-against-fourth clash is set to be an interesting one, with both teams aiming to lock in a finals spot.
Last time the duo met things could have gone either way and thanks to the power of GVL Data The News decided to have a look back and see how the Eagles got over the line.
With a scoreline of 10.9 (69) to 15.8 (98) in Mansfield’s favour it is clear the Eagles did enough to secure the win in round eight.
However things were certainly more even than the scoreboard made it seem.
The visiting Ealges led the disposal count by 19, the contested possessions by 12 and the tackle count by 12.
For the Cats, a dominant day in the ruck saw them lead the hit-out count by 19, while the home side also had three more forward-50 marks and two more clearances.
Patrick Marks led the disposal count for Mansfield with 26, while Kai Madgwick topped Mooroopna’s list with 23.
On the goal-kicking list Mooroopna’s Chris Nield led the way with six majors and Mansfield’s Will Foster had five.
While the last time they played provides an idea of what supporters can expect, both teams will look a little different this weekend.
Mansfield are now without the talented Tasman Clingan who picked up an injury in round eight, while Mooroopna now have ex-AFL talent Jackson Trengove in its lineup.
