If you’ve never stepped inside Sabac on High, then this Christmas is the perfect time to do yourself a favour and see what all the fuss is about.
Right in the heart of Shepparton’s CBD, this much-loved store transforms into a festive wonderland that could rival the grandest city displays, only with a lot more heart.
From the moment you walk through the door, it’s a visual feast.
Every corner is bursting with colour, sparkle and inspiration.
It’s the kind of place that brings out your inner child and makes you want to linger a little longer.
Owner Tracy Hayward spends months preparing the store for this time of year, and it shows.
“I love it when it’s all set up and people walk in and smile,” she said.
“Setting it up is hard work — but seeing people’s reactions makes it worth it.”
From themed trees, giftware, flowers, toys and home décor, there’s no shortage of festive fun.
According to Tracy, the Grinch seems to be making a comeback this year — but it’s not just about the Grinch this season, because every colour and every theme is on trend.
“Last year was all pink,” Tracy said.
“This year, it’s everything. Traditional greens, snowy whites, golds, pinks, blues, you name it, it’s selling.”
The store also offers plenty of gift inspiration, from beautifully scented candles and perfumes to diffusers, melts and boutique homewares.
There’s a delightful range of Charlie Bears, a collection of man cave items perfect for dad, gifts for mum, nan, and even a baby range.
Honestly, there is something for almost everyone on your list, with endless options of stunning Christmas decorations too.
But perhaps the most magical part of Sabac on High is its photo-worthy Christmas set-ups.
There’s a Grinch seat complete with a Whoville Toy Shop backdrop, a Santa bench featuring the classic red truck scene, and even a pink Christmas room with fluffy seats, all perfect for kids’ photos.
“I really want people to come in, take a photo of their children or family in the themed areas, and just enjoy it,” she said.
“It’s all part of the experience.”
And while the store sparkles year-round, Christmas is something truly special for Tracy.
“I’ve been here 15 years now,” Tracy said.
“This time of year is always busy, but I love seeing people walk in, smile and feel that Christmas joy.
“It’s pretty special.”
Sabac on High is open seven-days-a-week through the festive season, from 9am to 5pm on weekdays and roughly 9am to 3pm on weekends, often later if people are still coming through the door.
So this Christmas, take a stroll down High St and step inside Sabac on High.
It’s a local gem that’s bursting with magic and Christmas cheer from the front display windows right down to the back of the store.
