Katandra West Primary School is gearing up to celebrate Education Week.
With this year’s theme Spotlight on STEM, Katandra West is excited to highlight their STEM program through an open day on Thursday, May 16.
The school runs a weekly STEM session for all four classes on Thursdays, and on May 16 the school will open their sessions up to families and invite them to participate in the session.
Katandra West Primary School principal Marcia Waters said the last session of the day would bring the whole school together for a school-wide STEM session to celebrate the importance of science, technology, engineering and maths.
“Our school community engages positively with the whole-school events and our families support the learning of students at our school,” Ms Waters said.
“We expect great participation on the day.”
STEM at Katandra West covers a wide range of skills including collaborating, critical thinking, creativity, innovation and problem solving.
“By presenting students with real-world scenarios and challenges, students are able to develop these skills for use now, and in the future,” Ms Waters said.
The open day promises to be a fun day for families to connect with the students curriculum and engage with STEM at the school.
