The Victorian-based JCB dealership has been coming to Elmore since the 1980s and they’ve seen the world of machinery change over the decades.
One of the bigger changes has been the telehandler — a versatile unit that’s becoming an increasingly common choice for farm work.
It’s now the most popular product sold by the dealership.
The JCB company has been pioneering the telehandler (or ‘telescopic handler’) since the 1970s and the UK-based, family owned company considers itself the world’s number one telehandler manufacturer.
Brad Michael is dealer principal at the Michael’s Group Moama branch.
Mr Michael said it was great to be in the business of high-quality machinery and after-sales support.
“A lot of people like to brag about their service ... but our primary focus is on the after-sales support,” he said.
“We received an award for being the number one (JCB) dealer in the world with a focus on after-sales service and still hold this today.”
The Michael’s Group offers a full range of on-farm and workshop servicing for telehandler agricultural and construction equipment.
And as JCB dealers, they also service all JCB models from mini excavators and skid steer through to large loaders and heavy excavators.
“Our customers are widespread. They are in the grain business, hay, beef, dairy, chicken — it’s all over agriculture,” Mr Michael said.
“The Elmore Field Days have always been a good place for us to catch up with all our current customers in one spot.”
The group also has a large range of industrial vehicles it supplies the construction sector, including earthmoving equipment, backhoes, excavators and wheeled loaders.
This year the Michael’s Group will be bringing a range of equipment to Elmore — most of it JCB.
The most anticipated showpiece will be the newest model JCB telehandler.

Mr Michael said the new telehandler was launched in the middle of the COVID-19 years, which meant it hasn’t had much exposure.
“Since COVID started, this is us really getting back into the field days,” he said.
“We haven’t been able to show this telehandler around. This will be the first time we’ve taken it out.”
The Michael’s Group has dealerships in Donald, Moama, Ballarat and Traralgon.
