Croquet report | July 3

By Riverine Herald

Echuca Moama

Echuca Moama was out on the courts on Monday and what a beautiful day it was.

Everyone is getting back into the swing of playing croquet again.

Monday started off very cold with a frost then it turned out to be a very enjoyable day with the sunshine and all our friends.

There were plenty of laughs and everyone catching up on what they have been doing and all keeping their distance like we are supposed to do.

Our winners for the day were Trevor Peters winning his three games with a + 7 nett hoop score.

Jack Clee was hot on his heels also winning his three games with a nett hoop score of 5. Jump shots were won by John Tarrant with one.

Peter Van Der Zande and Mavis Peters also had one each. Hoops in one were scored by Beryl Ash, John Tarrant and Mavis Peters with one each.

Rich River

On Thursday of last week, the club had nine members in each of its two sessions, playing golf croquet in singles and a triple.

In the morning there was one three-game winner — Russ Smyth who had a nett hoop score of 9.

James Gunn scored a hoop in one.

The afternoon session had two three-game winners.

Lorraine Kable and Ian Grant both had a nett hoop score of 8, with Ian just ahead of Lorraine on a countback.

Four hoops in one show how well the courts are running.

They were scored by Nanette Tehan, Cheryl Lees, Maree Maher and Dave Maher.

On Wednesday, six members enjoyed association croquet.

The club’s annual general meeting will be held on Tuesday, July 7, at 7.00pm in the Tatalia Room at the Rich River Golf Club.

Members are encouraged to attend to welcome the new committee members.
