We believe in educating the whole child and supporting every student to achieve their personal best.
The school’s motto is ‘Working Together for Success’ and the core values of respect, responsibility, cooperation, wellbeing and personal best drive the programs which aim to prepare students for success in the 21st Century.
Blighty offers big opportunities for all children, with quality and caring staff.
Teachers are supported by relieving principal Marita Leetham, who oversees the activities and learning for the whole school while providing constant support to the teaching staff and the students.
The school features the latest in technological advances. It boasts a student to computer ratio of 3:2, video conferencing equipment, interactive whiteboards in all classrooms and an innovative robotics and coding program.
Blighty offers leadership opportunities through a student parliament. This involves senior students acting as Ministers for seven parliament groups.
These groups are then used for peer support activities such as the kitchen/garden program which involves growing vegetables and preparing nutritious meals.
Blighty is also well known for its creative and practical arts programs. Students have the opportunity to participate in an annual performance and weekly craft and tinkering projects with the School Chaplain.
Students can also learn percussion, recorder and ukulele.
Blighty is a member of the Deniliquin Small Schools Network, which allows Blighty, Bunnaloo, Mayrung and Conargo schools to participate competitively in PSSA sporting competitions. It also provides valuable excursion opportunities including visits to Beechworth, Sovereign Hill, Canberra and Sydney.
