Recognition: Jeanette Sabri has made a positive difference to the Shepparton community.

A Shepparton woman with a history of community service has been awarded a Rotary Paul Harris Fellowship.

The award is named after one of Rotary’s founders and is intended to acknowledge outstanding service.

Jeanette Sabri was presented with the fellowship certificate by outgoing Rotary Club of Shepparton president Josh Freeman.

Mr Freeman said throughout her time as a member of the club, Ms Sabri displayed unfailing respect, compassion and service.

“This unassuming woman has repeatedly and routinely used her talents to improve the lives of others both inside and outside the club,” he said.

A daughter of Albanian immigrants, she joined the club in 2010.

She grew up on an orchard near Shepparton with her three siblings and attended Lemnos Primary School where she met Enver Sabri, whom she eventually married.

They have three children, and grandchildren.

Ms Sabri has been active in the local Albanian community and is a supporter of the Shepparton Albanian Harvest Festival.

“Over the years many members of the club have been heartened when they have lost a loved one, had a significant milestone or suffered from illness to have Jeanette make contact on behalf of the club, providing connection, support and care,’’ Mr Freeman said.
