Recently-released Toy Story 4 will be played on the big screen and attendees are encouraged to come early for prizes, lollies and other mischief.
Mr Perry and Mr Jeffrey were encouraging people to dress up as their favourite Toy Story character, with prizes for best costume up for grabs.
The Perry family, alongside the Jefferys, were advocates for the Cure Brain Cancer Foundation since their daughter Chloe was diagnosed and died from the disease in December 2017.
Mr Perry said it was the third year the event had run and had been hugely successful in the past.
‘‘Brain cancer kills more children in Australia than any other disease and the brain cancer survival rate of approximately 20 per cent has hardly improved for over 30 years,’’ Mr Perry said.
‘‘Brain cancer kills the equivalent of a classroom full of kids every year and, in 2017, our daughter Chloe was one of them.
‘‘This is why I worked so hard to develop the Australian Brain Cancer Mission with the Federal Government.
‘‘It’s why I’m on the strategic advisory board for the Australian Brain Cancer Mission at Cancer Australia.
‘‘It’s why I’m now working with Cure Brain Cancer full-time and it’s why events like this are so important to raise money to fund research and treatments to improve the outcomes for people with brain cancer.
‘‘There have been some good investments made with the recently increased government funding for brain cancer, but nothing that has changed — the unacceptably low survival rates at this stage — though we are hopeful.’’
Strathbogie Shire Mayor Amanda McClaren said Council encouraged the local community to get behind the families.
‘‘It is so wonderful to see amazing local people raising funds and making a difference in the lives of others,’’ Cr McClaren said.
‘‘I really encourage our community to get behind Dustin and Steven, who are dedicated to the Cure Brain Cancer Foundation and have already raised significant funds for the cause over the last few years.’’
Tickets are available at the door on the night and are $15 for adults and $10 for children, with all proceeds going towards Cure Brain Cancer Foundation. The event is supported by Ruralco Property Rodwells, St John’s Primary School and Strathbogie Shire Council. For information or to make a donation, visit www.curebraincancer.org.au
