The comment came as the council adopted an updated Community Engagement Policy at the February meeting.
“It’s really important we have good community engagement. I see areas of improvement we have with our surveymonkey that we – and lots of firms – use,” Cr Martin said.
“And quite often there’s not the room to explain why you’ve made that choice.
“That’s really important because we want to get to the reason why people tick this box or that box.
“And I think its important that we do listen to our stakeholders and get back to them.”
Moving the motion, Cr Peter Lawless said the engagement policy was a very important document.
“(It) needs to be revised all the time, we need to understand the needs and concerns of our community,” he said.
“The survey conducted in August 2020 was to seek community feedback on a preferred method of communication and the best way to hear back from our community.
“That went on for five weeks, I think we had 60 responses. There has been plenty of time for people to express their pleasure or displeasure with the way we’re communicating.”
