GWS recruit Jake Stringer has sustained another hamstring injury and been substituted out of his side's clash with Geelong.

Stringer kicked two early goals as the Giants piled on five of the first six majors in a hot start at GMHBA Stadium on Sunday.

But the former Essendon and Western Bulldogs star hobbled off in the second quarter and was almost immediately ruled out.

He was replaced by second-gamer Josaia Delana.

Geelong fought back to lead an entertaining contest, 9.8 (62) to 9.7 (61), at the main break.

Stringer joined GWS in a trade from Essendon last October and had a delayed start to the 2025 campaign due to a low-grade hamstring injury.

It is not yet clear how serious the 31-year-old's latest setback is.

Stringer has kicked eight goals in seven appearances for the Giants, including three as the substitute in last round's derby loss to Sydney.
