Two-time All-Australian Anne Hatchard has produced a midfield masterclass as she inspired Adelaide to a nine-point win in their AFLW top-of-the-table clash with Fremantle.

The Crows booted a wasteful 0.5 and two out-on-the-full in the third term of Saturday's match, meaning they turned for home down by two points and kicking against the breeze.

But Hatchard produced a scintillating burst early in the final quarter, tallying nine possessions within the space of a few minutes to set up two quick goals for the Crows.

They proved to be the final goals of the match, with Adelaide prevailing 3.7 (25) to 2.4 (16) at Fremantle Oval.

The win boosted Adelaide's season record to 7-1, while Fremantle are now 6-2.

Hatchard finished with 30 disposals and eight marks in a best-afield display, while Ebony Marinoff was also damaging with 30 possessions.

Teammate Danielle Ponter starred up forward with two goals from 20 disposals.

Stephanie Cain collected a team-high 22 possessions for Fremantle, with Airlie Runnalls tallying 20 disposals and a goal.

Dockers captain Hayley Miller was restricted to 10 possessions and a goal in a quiet display.

Both sides entered the match minus key players.

Adelaide was without superstar Erin Phillips (knee), while the Dockers were without midfield gun Kiara Bowers (knee) and forward Roxy Roux (hamstring).

The temperature was 30 degrees at bouncedown, and the pressure was red hot in the first half as both sides were restricted to a goal each.

With space at a premium, it took until the dying minutes of the opening term for Ponter to break the deadlock with the opening goal.

Fremantle replied through Runnalls early in the second term, with the Dockers going to the long break with a one-point lead.

Almost the entire third quarter was played in Adelaide's front half, but their inability to convert cost them dearly.

With just 85 seconds left in the quarter, Fremantle skipper Miller ran forward and booted a goal against the run of play to give the home side a two-point edge at the final change.

Adelaide were winning the inside-50m count 29-15 at that stage, but the big question was how they would cope against the breeze in the final term.

Hatchard answered that with a monumental final-quarter effort, with her heroics in the middle helping give Adelaide vital field position that led to goals to Ponter and Ashleigh Woodland.
