The Bulldogs handled the windy conditions far better than their opponents to secure a third consecutive victory with their stunning 20.11 (131) to 5.11 (41) triumph at Mars Stadium on Saturday.
It was the Dogs' (5-3) ninth win from their last 11 outings at their second home and strengthened their hold on a top-eight spot, while handing Port (4-4) their first loss in a month.
The fallout could get worse for the Power, with Willie Rioli facing scrutiny after appearing to strike Bailey Dale high in an off-the-ball incident during the third quarter.
English (27 disposals, three goals) was best afield for the Bulldogs opposed to former teammate Jordon Sweet, with Ed Richards (30 touches, five clearances) and Matt Kennedy (26, 11) strong contributors in the midfield.
All-Australian ball-winner Adam Treloar (27 disposals, one goal) was also busy in his first game of the season on return from a calf injury.
Rory Lobb was influential in defence, often repelling Port's attacking raids, while Dale (31 disposals) shone across half-back.
Captain Marcus Bontempelli finished with 23 touches and three goals, including arguably the best major of the day - though Richards and Joel Freijah both had claims.
Dogs spearhead Aaron Naughton also booted three majors.
Zak Butters worked tirelessly for Port with 24 disposals, six clearances and nine tackles but his influence waned after a blistering opening term.
Power captain Connor Rozee (29 disposals) again started at half-back and was moved into the middle when the game started slipping away in the third quarter.
The Bulldogs were comprehensively beaten at clearances by a Butters-led Port in the first term (12-5), but were within three points at quarter-time and gradually turned the contest around as English took over in the ruck.
The Dogs laid the platform for their win with six goals to one in the second quarter, including Richards' spectacular checkside on the run from the boundary line, and led 8.3 to 3.7 at the main break.
They took complete control in the third term, piling on seven goals to two into the strong breeze as Freijah and Bontempelli both produced brilliant snaps for the highlights reel.
The margin blew out in the final term as the Bulldogs went into party mode in front of 4814 fans at the restricted-capacity venue.
