But while a record fifth grand final win would be special, he admits seeing long-time skipper Kayla Morrison become a championship-winning captain for the first time would bring a tear to his eye.
Hopkins already holds the record for most grand final wins - four across his stints with Brisbane, then the Victory, and is chasing a fifth on Sunday when his charges host Central Coast at AAMI Park.
"I haven't smiled all season," Hopkins said.
"It's all about this game. This is all that I've been thinking about all season.
"I might have hidden it a little bit and talked about the next game and the next game - but this is the next game for us. It's what I've been waiting for all season."
In the Victory's last grand final win, in 2022, Morrison was sidelined with an ACL tear and stand-in captain Lia Privitelli gave her her medal in an emotional moment on the dais.
It means Morrison, who played in the 2021 win, will skipper them in a decider for the first time.
"I don't really want to think about it at the moment but I guess it would be quite an emotional moment for me," Hopkins said.Â
"I still can't watch the last one without shedding a tear. So it'll make an old man very happy."
But standing in his way is a defence led by former Victory defender Jessika Nash - a player with a point to prove.
Nash wore navy blue and white for two seasons, predominantly as a full-back, but joined Emily Husband's Central Coast to play in her preferred role as a central defender.
"I knew Em from Canberra United where I actually played centre-back in my first year so she knew I had the capabilities and exactly what I needed to thrive," Nash told AAP.
"For me it was a no-brainer coming across to the Mariners where that environment allowed me to play in that position and thankfully this season's paid off."
Nash has thrived in the role and can't wait to come up against ex-teammate and decorated Victory striker Emily Gielnik, plus dangerous attackers Rachel Lowe, Nicki Flannery and Holly Furphy.
"To be in the grand final is something special but to even get to play against my old team, I know it's going to be a great rivalry and an even better game on the weekend," Nash said.
"Our football will do the talking on the weekend.
"As I've said all season long, I love proving people wrong. I love being the underdog.
"So all of us are so excited for this game."
