Portugal's Sanches joins Paris SG

A product of the Benfica youth academy, Sanches made his senior debut during the 2015-16 season with the Lisbon side, helping them to the Portuguese League and League Cup double.

In 2016, when still a teenager, he joined Bundesliga behemoths Bayern Munich for an initial €35 million ($A50 million), then a record for a domestic-based Portuguese player but he played only 53 times for the Bavarian side in three years, often as substitute.

During this period he had a disastrous loan spell to then-English Premier League club Swansea City.

A move to Lille, for a club record €25m ($A37 m)  followed in 2019 and Sanches won the French league title two years later.

Sanches has won 32 caps for Portugal and was voted best young player of the tournament when they won Euro 2016.
