Caitlin Foord has started her club season in style with the Matildas striker cracking four goals as Arsenal drubbed Rangers 6-0 in a Women's Champions League qualifier.

The Matildas ace settled the battle of Britain with a superb display at Meadow Park in greater north London's outskirts.

Foord opened the scoring early in the first half on Wednesday with a fine far-post header from Spanish debutant Mariona Caldentey.

Despite dominating proceedings Arsenal had to wait until the hour-mark for their second when Foord finished after a mazy run from Kim Little.

Moments later Alessia Russo added the third with a drive from the edge of the area.

Foord completed her treble with a spectacular volley at the far post from Katie McCabe's cross.

Little added the fifth from the penalty spot and Foord wrapped up a comprehensive win when she tapped in a rebound from close range.

Arsenal will meet Norway's Rosenborg, surprise 3-2 winners on penalties after a 2-2 draw against Atletico Madrid, on Saturday, for a place in round two of qualifying, the tournament's final phase before it reaches the group stage.

Last year Arsenal failed to reach the group stage after a shock defeat to Paris FC in qualifying and are under considerable pressure to do so this year.
