Now contracted until the end of 2028, Mulitalo had been one of the hottest properties off market at the end of 2025.
The 25-year-old New Zealand international had reportedly been shopped to the Brisbane Broncos before recommitting to the Sharks in a major boost to the 2024 preliminary finalists.
Mulitalo has scored 83 tries for Cronulla, including 56 in his past 70 games, to be exactly halfway towards reaching Andrew Ettingshausen's all-time club record of 166.
He has played 110 NRL matches for the Sharks after starting out in the SG Ball ranks.
"I'm filled with emotions, super grateful," Mulitalo said on Tuesday.
"For me and my family, it's massive. Hopefully I'll finish my career here as a Sharkie forever.
"I've been here since I was a 15-year-old. To be around my best mates every day for another three years is a super humbling experience.
"The club has given me so much. I've been able to buy my mum a house by being here and committing to this family. I want to give back now to the club. I'll try as hard as I can to do that.
"The club has instilled their faith into me and now it's time for us to deliver on what we set out to do as a group.
Mulitano's re-signing marks a full-circle moment for Sharks football manager Darren Mooney, who signed the then-teenager's first-ever Cronulla contract almost exactly 10 years ago.
"Ronaldo's love for the club and his teammates is obvious in the wholehearted way he plays every game," Mooney said.
"As well as being an elite finisher and a fierce competitor, he always brings an infectious enthusiasm to our squad.
"Off the field, Ronaldo is constantly giving back to the community and represents the values the Sharks are all about. We're fortunate to have him here long term."
From humble beginnings in South Auckland, where he and his family once lived in a leaky garage, Mulitalo moved to Queensland aged 14 to chase his dream.
After finishing school in Ipswich, he headed south and found a home at Cronulla.
Having burst onto the NRL scene in 2019, Mulitalo earned his international debut for the USA Hawks - on account of his mum's American Samoan heritage - at that year's Rugby League World Cup 9s.
He then represented Samoa in the Test arena, before adding eight caps for his native New Zealand in recent years.
Mulitalo was awarded the NRL's prestigious Ken Stephen Medal in 2021 for his work with disadvantaged youth.
