Contracted until the end of 2027 on a $800,000-a-season deal last June, Schuster has not been picked to play in the NRL yet this season.
AAP has been told the Samoa international has been informed he is able to begin talks with rival clubs, if he wishes to exit the Sea Eagles.
One of the most talented youngsters in the game, Schuster has struggled to find a home in Manly's team.
He starred in the second row in 2021, but was unable to find success at five-eighth once moved there in 2023 amid a raft of injuries.
He has spent this season in reserve grade after missing the Las Vegas season opener through injury, and was even benched at one stage in NSW Cup a fortnight ago.
Manly would still be required to pay some of his contract for the next two years, unless another suitor is willing to pay the full amount.
