The Dolphins host the Broncos on Friday night at Suncorp Stadium in the "Battle of Brisbane" seeking their first win of the season, while their opponents have started with two victories.
Farnworth, who was Dolphins man of the match in their disappointing 30-18 loss to Wests Tigers on Saturday, also won the "Battle Medal" in last year's 40-6 thumping of the Broncos in round 26 when he scored two tries, set two up and ran for 287m.
"I can't think too much just about playing my old club because we really need the two points to get our season under way and have got to improve a lot," Farnworth told AAP.
"The Broncos have a lot of star power and have started the season really well. It's a pretty easy game to get up for against the Broncos so I am sure we will come out firing."
The England international was signed to the Broncos as a teenager but left the club at the end of 2023 to join their fierce rivals. He was named in the Dally M team of the year at centre in 2024 and has not looked over his shoulder with any longing at his old club.
"No regrets. I love this club. I signed for a great club with a lot of history,'" Farnworth said.
"The Dolphins showed a lot of faith in me and a lot of belief and I want to pay them back."I think I am an overall better player than I was and I don't see any reason why I can't improve my game.
"When you are not winning games, you can play as good or bad as you like, it doesn't make a difference unless you get the two points. I have things to get better at with my game and hopefully I can bring a bit extra this week."
The Dolphins already have concerns in key areas.
They were in the lead in round one against South Sydney, and again on Saturday were ahead 18-6, but none of their key players stepped up when the game was on the line.
Halves Kodi Nikorima and Isaiya Katoa showed glimpses of what they are capable of while fullback Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow and hooker Jeremy Marshall-King have been underwhelming.
Apart from prop Daniel Saifiti, the forwards have made little impact. They have been solid but appear slow. Josh Kerr, who was impressive with his quick play-the-balls against the Rabbitohs, was omitted against the Tigers.
The Dolphins had flaws under former coach Wayne Bennett but always started the season under the master coach with more of a competitive edge and desire than they have shown under new mentor Kristian Woolf."We know what we are capable of but the Broncos have come out firing and we haven't. We have to be stronger in defence and more clinical in attack," Farnworth said.
"We are slightly off but we have a lot of young lads with a lot of talent who are willing to work hard and have a big future in the game. I still have a lot of faith in this team."
