Hunt and the Broncos will find out in the next 48 hours if St George Illawarra are prepared to release their captain so he can join his former club Brisbane for the rest of the season.
The 33-year-old former Bronco will meet with Dragons coach Shane Flanagan and the club hierarchy on Monday about his contract situation.
If he joins the Broncos it will be as a hooker not a half.
Walters has done a great job this year but said he would welcome Hunt's arrival.
"I would like to think I go alright, but I think Ben Hunt is a bit better player than me at nine," Walters said after the 18-12 loss to the Gold Coast.
"I am happy for him to come here. I am not sure what is going to happen with all of that.
"I suppose it is not my thing to worry about but I would quite happily take him.
"I think he would increase our intensity in the comp. If it does happen I am happy to do whatever role is next.
"It was not the sort of footy (today) we want to play. There are no easy games in the NRL and the Titans were way too good for us. It is disappointing."
Walters said that as a squad member he would adopt "a team first mentality" and try to improve his game under Hunt.
"It is all about learning and trying to get better," Walters said.
"If he does come with us it probably won't be long term so he can probably teach me a few things for the rest of the year that I can take into next year and be a better player for it."
Walters' father Kevin Walters said whether Hunt arrived at the club was "in the NRL's hands".
The Broncos coach was so furious with his team's performance against the Titans he said: "Do you think he would want to come to this club after watching that? I wouldn't have thought so."
Brisbane chief executive Dave Donaghy said there was "a lot of water that needs to go under the bridge" before Hunt could join the Broncos.
"I am just reluctant to talk about it too much at this stage until the Dragons work through their matters with Ben," he said.
