And the defending Sheffield Shield champions were given another boost when they were able to fend off interest from NSW to re-sign wicketkeeper Josh Philippe on a two-year deal.
Retirement was on the cards for Marsh after the 38-year-old finally broke through for his first Shield title last season.
But the former Test batsman is keen to go around for at least another year to help guide the team's emerging stars.
If he manages to play on for two more seasons, he will be 40 years of age.
"I'm really pleased that (Shaun Marsh) wants to go around again for another season," WA coach Adam Voges said.
"We had a good chat at the back end after the Shield final, and he's indicated he's really keen to get stuck in for another year.
"He'll not only provide great leadership for our squad, but he's also one of our better players and his ability to mentor some of the up-and-coming guys is invaluable."
Marsh, who made his WA debut in 2000-01, took the reins as red-ball captain throughout the summer and guided WA to their first Shield title since 1998-99.
The star veteran sits third on the State's all-time Shield run-scoring table with 8330 runs at 42.71, including 20 centuries and 43 half-centuries.
He is also WA's all-time leading one-day domestic run-scorer with 3672 runs at 44.78 (10 centuries, 19 half-centuries) and featured regularly during his team's recent One Day Cup triumph.
Philippe's outstanding form for WA last season earned him selection for Australia A's multi-format tour of Sri Lanka next month.
The 24-year-old plays for the Sydney Sixers in the BBL, with speculation swirling NSW had made a play for Philippe.
But WA have been able to fend off that threat and re-sign Philippe for a further two seasons.
Rising allrounder Aaron Hardie penned a three-year contract extension after starring in the second half of the Shield season.
His performance during the final, tallying 174 not out and taking 3-54 from 24 overs, went a long way towards him being selected for Australia A.
