Lachlan Baker has been with Lewis Homes for just over two months, and in that time, he’s handed over five sets of keys to owners heading into their dream homes.
At Lewis Homes, worksites are manned by the same sub-contracted companies for each construction site, many of which have been consistent relationships for years.
Lachlan recently came from a commercial background, working at expansive sites in metropolitan areas.
He said the transition into a family business had been seamless and a breath of fresh air in being community-minded.
“It’s a very well-run company this one,” he said.
“Because we have all the same trades do our work, it’s a really friendly environment, everyone knows each other and the systems we use.”
As a building supervisor, Lachlan’s days always look a little different.
Some are spent on the tools — helping with little jobs on worksites — while others are spent liaising with clients and making sure all is on track for their vision to become a reality.
Each day Lachlan makes his way to multiple worksites to organise materials, check in on sub-contractors and ensure things are running smoothly, often meeting clients at the sites toward the end of their builds.
He said the human element was a motivator behind his move across to a family business.
Lachlan is involved in the entirety of the home building journey — he’s there for clients from start to finish.
“You do get to know the people quite well, and obviously they’re just so happy once you give them the keys.
“It’s the reason I came over to this part of the construction industry — it’s very friendly and it’s about building peoples’ dream homes.”
