After a successful year both on and off the field the Murray Females Female Football Club celebrated the 2022 season with a presentation function at Rutherglen’s Barkley Park on Sunday afternoon.

Vote counts were held for all three teams with Abbey Ibrahim taking out the Under 14s best and fairest with a record 100 votes over Carrington Schmidt.
Under 17 award winners: Georgia Thomas (leading goals kicker), Hannah Loughnan (rising star), Sophie Kelly (most consistent), Ava Loughnan (best and fairest), Madi Ibrahim (runner up), Phina Muscat (best in finals). Absent: Olivia Cheeseman (coaches award) and Emily Cooper (most improved).
It was no surprise in the under 17s with North East and Border League best and fairest Ava Loughnan also taking out the club’s top award. Maddie Ibrahim took out runners up after a very consistent year.
In the Open Womens, reliable backliner Kaitlyn Robinson had an outstanding year taking out the best fairest over runner up Carrington Smith.
Open Womens award winners: Yasmine Budic (coaches award and best in finals), Mietta Habets (runner up), Olivia Sheldrick (best first year player), Claire Megarrity (most consistent), Sophie Nicholson (leading goal kicker), Kaitlin Muscat (most determined), Kaitlyn Robinson (beat and fairest) and Laura Daw (most improved). Absent: Emily Nicholson (best in finals).
Special thankyous were made to the many parents and volunteers, coaches, trainers and on several occasions the huge amount of work of club secretary Nadine Nicholson was recognized and praised.
The Murray Felines are going from strength-to-strength with a constant growth of female footballers joining the club from year to year.
The growing club is now hoping for a positive announcement from the Victorian Government in October regarding funding for new female changerooms at Barkley Park.
