Jarrod Kellock added the Girgarre Football Netball Club’s senior best and fairest title to an extraordinary football CV last week.
The smooth-moving South Australian left footer played 10 home and away games, along with the club’s first final in 20 years, with the Kangaroos this season.
He kicked 14 goals from the midfield, including a trifecta of three-goal bags against eventual finalists Shepparton East, Violet Town and grand finalist Murchison-Toolamba.
In all but one of those games he was considered by officials to be among the Kangaroos’ best players.
Kellock arrived at the Kyabram district league club having played in seven premierships in a 10-year period between 2007 and 2020.
Kellock played in five premierships with Langhorne Creek in the Great Southern Football League during two stints at the club between 2011-2020 and also earned a spot in the state’s country championships team.
He kicked 63 and 47 goals in the 2019-20 back-to-back grand final-winning seasons at Langhorne Creek.
That was after he was a member of two premierships at Glenelg with the reserves team in 2007 and 2009.
In 2010 Kellock played 17 SANFL games with the bayside team’s senior outfit.
∎ Reigning A-grade netball best and fairest Holly Nelson won the top netball gong with the club.
Nelson coached the club this season, which finished just outside the finals this season.
∎ Jordy Archibald was the reserve grade best and fairest winner.
His 11 games included eight when he was rated among the best handful of Kangaroos on the ground and he kicked 11 goals.
Archibald crossed to the club after an Under-18 season with neighbouring Kyabram district league club Merrigum, having earlier played under age football with Picola United.
∎ Thomas Werner was crowned best and fairest of the Under-18 team, which he captained into the second week of the league finals series.
Werner made three late-season appearances at senior level with the Kangaroos, but finished with 17 games at underage level and four goals for the season.
∎ Kristie Day was winner of the club’s B-grade netball title, with Ellie Burt taking home the C-grade title.
Tahni Davies, Mikayla Kuiper and Sopie McDonald were the winners of the club’s three underage netball titles.
