The rain held off long enough for 18 optimistic members to play three games of singles.
As the only player to win all games, it was great to see Anne Dodd back in the winners’ circle on +6. Runner-up was Kevin Harrison, winning 2 games on +8.
Russell Smyth scored a hoop in one. Annette Adkins and Fiona Larcombe benefited from the morning’s lesson by Kenn Boal on ‘Jump Shots’ by scoring 2 each.
Tuesday, August 23:
Today we welcomed players from Shepparton, Mooroopna and Echuca Moama to join with our members in our annual charity event. A bitterly cold wind was the only deterrent for the day.
After four games of doubles, two players had won all games with both equal on 32 hoops. A ‘nearest the pin’ play off saw Anne Dodd of Rich River take victory, with Lyn Keillor of Echuca Moama the runner-up.
Raffle winners were Beryl Ash (Echuca Moama) and Gwen Smith (Rich River).
After a delicious afternoon tea, RRCC president Leon Koch made a presentation of the day’s proceeds to Echuca Neighbourhood House president, Trevor Crane and treasurer Cheryl Russell.
Thanks to Sandra and Gwen for keeping the urn hot all day, and congratulations to Cherie on organising her first social day successfully.
A reminder that Golf Croquet Pennant starts on Thursday, September 1.
Anyone interested in learning to play croquet should phone Marjorie on 0459 030 338 or Cherie on 0409 509 295 for more information.
