If you thought you were only getting a two-part Murray Football League Top 50, you were wrong.
Like last year, this season’s early list will be split in three parts, so you do not miss a thing when it comes to pouring over Musings HQ’s predictions of who will be the best of the best come year’s end.
Well, what am I waiting for? Here is the next stage of the Top 50.
THE STORY SO FAR
50-31: Xavier Chalkley (Katandra), Clancy Congues (Nathalia), Sam Ferguson (Congupna), Matt Demaio (Cobram), Ash Quinn (Nathalia), Jordan Souter (Tongala), Lucas Olson (Barooga), Kane Murphy (Finley), Cam Robertson (Finley), Josh Chapman (Congupna), Luke Dunham (Moama), Farran Priest (Echuca United), Jason Limbrick (Nathalia), Grant Gallus (Numurkah), Kian Wise (Rumbalara), Levi Power (Rumbalara), Nathan Hicks (Numurkah), Jye Warren (Numurkah), Ryan Butler (Nathalia), Alex Hicks (Nathalia).
30. Coby McCarthy (Tongala)
One of the many Kyabram players who jumped across to Tongala this season, McCarthy will establish himself as one of the best recruits of the season.
29. David Smith (Rumbalara)
Another fresh to the Murray ranks this season, the returning Smith is a crucial cog for Rumba.
28. Jamie Fulton (Numurkah)
A bolter here at 28, but Fulton has all the makings of a gun — as he should for the amount of time he spends in the gym according to sources at the Blues. A damaging midfielder will be how we describe him by year’s end.
27. Jackson Gash (Mulwala)
Gash is one of the best midfielders in the competition and a leader as well — a great combination.
26. Justin Terlich (Rumbalara)
A very smooth mover, Terlich is able to turn a game on its head when he is in top gear.
25. Marlon Johnstone (Rumbalara)
Another Rumba product in the list despite their 1-6 start to the year, but I felt that the club’s rising stars will drag them up the table quickly in the next phase of the season.
24. Adam DeCicco (Cobram)
One of Cobram’s most important stars, especially with the club’s growing injury list.
23. Todd Gallagher (Deniliquin)
Gallagher is a man for any occasion, being able to play as a pure midfielder, in attack, down back and even in the ruck with his size.
22. Adam Jorgensen (Nathalia)
Lightning quick and knows where the big sticks are. Will kick 50 goals this year.
21. Adam Lovison (Tongala)
You do not hold down a spot in Kyabram’s defence without being a star and Lovison is exactly that.
20. Brodie Ross (Nathalia)
Might be a touch low on this list and make me regret it by the end of the year, but has already missed games through injury and I doubt the Purples will take many chances if he is sore at all throughout the season. You certainly do not drive your Ferrari through the mud if you can help it. Come finals he will explode.
19. Steven Stallion (Cobram)
Impressive to start the season for the Tigers, can he keep it up all year long? A very dangerous weapon in attack.
18. Nathan Terlich (Rumbalara)
Plenty of wingers in this list and this Terlich may be the best of the bunch. Watched him rack up 20 touches in the first term of a final against Finley last year to put the game away immediately.
17. Zac Brain (Barooga)
Has started the year on fire for the Hawks and will continue to be in the best nearly every week.
16. Cadeyn Williams (Cobram)
Has not put a foot wrong since returning to Scott Oval. Williams can hurt you in the middle and do even more damage in attack.
15. Ash Morris (Deniliquin)
You do not win an O’Dwyer Medal if you cannot play football and Morris has one of those in the trophy cabinet.
14. Drew Barnes (Nathalia)
Midfield bull who may also be a bit low here, but Nathalia’s gun knows which end of the year they need to be performing best at. Will undoubtedly make the top 10 in the post-season Top 50.
13. John Anstee (Deniliquin)
The football world fell in love with Anstee early this season, but HQ has always been a huge fan. Best defender in the business.Musings
12. Bodhi Butts (Tungamah)
Absolute gun, deserves to be higher.
11. Ash Saunders (Tungamah)
Winding back the clock with aplomb, can Saunders notch up a ton this season? Has 31 majors after six games, so will go very close.
