Residents across Tatura register their garage sales with Tatura Community House, and at 8am on September 10, the house will start selling maps showing every garage sale in town.
The Monster Garage Sale has become a town tradition, Tatura Community House manager Tom Boocock said.
“It’s a great opportunity to get the town moving and meet your neighbours,” he said.
More than 300 maps were sold and 70 stalls were registered when the Monster Garage Sale last ran in 2019, raising more than $600.
The proceeds from the sale go towards keeping the house’s doors open so the house can continue to provide critical front-line services to the community.
Tom said it was one of the biggest annual fundraisers for Tatura Community House, and a great opportunity for people to learn more about the role of the house in the community.
“It's vital for the community to have neighbourhood houses, because no-one else is going to provide the services that we offer.
“We catch a lot of people that have fallen through the gaps.”
Community houses are often the first port of call for people in need, offering everything from healthcare to food relief and referrals to specialist services.
“It's just a place a safe place for community members to go,” Tom said.
Tatura Community House is partnered with Shepparton Foodshare, and prepares frozen meals to be distributed to people in need.
Registrations for the Monster Garage Sale will cost $25 and will be open from July 11.
Maps will be sold on the day for $2 at Tatura Community House.
