Scrivener leads Scandinavian Mixed event

"I'm really happy. It has been a frustrating couple of months, and I felt a round like this was close and I am pretty happy with it," the 33-year-old Scrivener said.

"I have been playing decent just not really holing any putts and making a few mistakes here and there, and not putting a score together, so for it all to come together today it was nice.

"It has been awesome, the girls are great players, I think Ana (Peláez) is on the cut line, but she played great today so good fun.

"I'm looking forward to it. It has been a while since I have been in contention and I'm just excited to be in this position. I can't wait."

This tournament sees 78 men and 78 women play on the same course - though off different tees - for one prize fund and one trophy, and two women in particular look set to contend.

Italian amateur Melgrati, a 19-year-old who attends the University of Arizona, was tied for the lead after a first-round 65 and followed that up by shooting 69 to move onto 10 under.

"I don't know any adjective to describe this feeling! It's great and it's unbelievable," said Melgrati. "I think it's just the result of working hard.

"It has been great. I'm excited and I just want to keep going. I can't wait to play tomorrow! I love playing, so that's my dream."

Also on that number is home favourite Grant, who is from Sweden, after a round of 68 that included six birdies - two coming in the final three holes.

Mike Lorenzo-Vera completed the trio tied for second place. The Frenchman was seven under for his round after 13 holes but played the final five holes in one over to shoot 66.

Henrik Stenson, the captain of the European team for next year's Ryder Cup in Italy, also shot 66 and is tied seventh - four off the lead - at the event he is hosting along with another Swedish great, Annika Sorenstam.
