Lemon Tree Cafe closed after customer's positive COVID-19 test

UPDATE, 10AM:

Lemon Tree Cafe has been informed the positive COVID-19 case was at the cafe from October 7 to October 12.

In a statement on its Facebook page, the cafe said anyone who attended the cafe on these dates will need to be tested immediately.

EARLIER:

Lemon Tree Cafe will be closed until further notice after confirmation a regular customer returned a positive COVID-19 test.

The Fryers St cafe confirmed a takeaway patron, who last visited the store on October 8, had tested positive, leaving it to close for deep cleaning.

Owner Leanne Stride said the customer often attended the store on a daily basis, generally between 7am and 9am, but had not been at the shop since last Thursday.

"We’ve had a case confirmed at Lemon Tree, and we’re currently closed for a deep clean. All staff will be getting tested," she said.

"(The customer) believes, from what the hospital has told us, she was last here on (October 8).

"From here, it’s all about following the protocols, and just doing the right thing for the community. We want to get back in business of course, but this is very serious stuff."

The store will remain closed until all staff have returned a negative COVID-19 test.

More to come.
