Rob was the lucky winner of the major prize in the Hummingbird Mathoura Fishing Classic and headed home with a Stacer 429 Proline Angler, side console 40hp 4-stroke Yamaha Bimini valued at $26,000 behind his car.
Deniliquin woman Karen Wharton was also pretty happy when she was named the winner of the early entry prize, a Stacer 359 proline with a Yamaha 9.9hp 4 stroke outboard motor.
A total of 1165 entries were received for the popular three-day annual event held at Tarragon Lodge on the Murray River at Picnic Point.
The weekend catch included 40 legal Murray Cod as well as four cod measuring in excess of one metre.
The event has been hailed as a great success.

Mathoura’s thoughts and prayers have been with the McCormick Family this week after Tony was flown to Melbourne’s Austin Hospital at the weekend.
He has been receiving treatment for a brain bleed following a recent accident.
Locals are wishing him a speedy recovery and hope he will be back on deck soon.

Jacinta Mathew has been elected as president of the Mathoura Preschool Committee for the coming year.
She will be supported by Marie Crack as vice president.
Alina Hawkins has taken on the secretary role while Michelle O’Sullivan has filled the treasurer position.
Fundraising and general members are Emily Celli and Anita Severin.
The preschool community is grateful to all who have offered their time and energy to support the great local facility.

Mathoura Bowling Club’s Division Four team will carry the town’s colours high in next week’s Campaspe Valley District Bowls final.
The boys earned their finals berth after a good win over Lockington.
Playing at Rich River, the team scored 81 shots to defeat Locky by 29.
The team has a break this weekend in the lead up to the big final.

Condolences are being extended to a long-term local family this week.
This follows the recent death of John Richard ‘Jack’ Bright, aged 80.
A graveside funeral service to commemorate his life will be held the Mathoura Lawn Cemetery at 11am on Monday.
Jack is survived by his wife Jan and their adult children, Glenn, Troy, Cavil and Cassie and their families.
